An Editor Qualities Which You Should Know
Do you know that editors are God’s blessings
to the literary world and champions for us readers? Being an editor and a
good one is thus not everyone’s cup of tea. Even if you’re fluent in English
that doesn’t mean you are a successful editor because editorial skills and
qualities are beyond basic language skills.
So,
here are the skills and qualities which should
be present in an editor.
·
Have rigid
self-esteem. They don’t feel the requirement to put
their hands all over your copy if it’s good enough as is.
·
Are prudent
copywriters. Whatever work they do looks for better.
·
Aren’t raging
egotists. They relate to writers as equals.
·
Don’t change
their minds. They edit the content as per their
knowledge and don’t ask for a different angle for your story if circumstances
have changed they require to change the content.
·
Understand
business customs. They inform you regarding
their content or edits according to the latest writing or editing trend.
·
Are standardized. They
keep a record of many writers working on more than one story for a number of problems.
·
Have a rigid
hold of their publication. They know their readers,
their path to the subject or their specific department. As a result, they can
explain why content is or isn’t a good fit.
·
Recommend Sources. If
they can’t share particular names, they can suggest types of sources to click.
·
Follow
through. Whether it’s on the engagement of fast
turnaround edits, contracts delivered when they say they will be or that you’ll
get paid what and when you’re supposed to.
·
Show gratitude. When
you did a good job, they say thank you, share your praise publicly,
and give you assignments.
